Hello Reception,
It has been lovely to see and hear from so many of you this week, I can tell you are all working very hard. Today is Wednesday and I would like you to talk to your family about what days are in a week? What is the weather like today? What is the date? I know lots of you enjoy to do a calendar at home so you could even make one yourself if you haven’t already done so.
This week is Mental Health week. Please check Marvellous me for today’s wellbeing activity.
Please remember I will do 2 drop-in zoom sessions a day, one at 10.30am and one at 2pm. You can ask any questions you wish to or show me some of your work. I will also read a story on an afternoon so feel free to drop in.
This mornings job is to watch the alphabet song. Can you join in and say the letter names and letter sounds.
This morning our exercise is Andy’s Wild Workouts. Here is the link:

Phonics Activity
Today, I would like you to watch the video to learn our new diagraph. I wonder if you can join in, then think of some words with the ‘ch’ diagraph in. Use one of those words to tell someone in your family a sentence with your word in. For an extra challenge I would like you to write your sentence. Remember those capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Maths Activity
Watch the video of glasses of juice which are empty, full, nearly full and nearly empty. After watching the video, find some cups at home and see if you can fill some up, pour them into other cups etc.
Reading
Today, we are going to look at another fairy tale. We are going to watch the Ugly Duckling. Watch the video and then discuss with your family what happens in the beginning of the story, what happens in the middle and what happens at the end. Who is your favourite character and why?
Other activities:
- Read a phonics book on oxford owl or you can read your own phonics book if you have one. Remember to keep practicing so you become fluent with reading. Free eBook library | Oxford Owl from Oxford University Press.
- Complete the activity from Mental Health Week on Marvellous Me.
- Make a recipe for your favourite treat. I am going to make a recipe for cakes. I will need some flour, butter, sugar and eggs. I will also need lots of chocolate (don’t forget that chocolate is Miss Stone’s favourite treat). You could then make these cakes later in the week with your family.
- Watch Geraldine the Giraffe learning the ‘qu’ diagraph.
Well done Reception, your work for today is complete. I am so extremely proud of you all and please remember, if you need any thing I am always here.
