Good morning Year 5. Two more days of work including today. I hope you’re ready for no technology day on Friday and you are excited to dress in rainbow colours. If you are struggling for motivation today, listen to the song below. I love this song as it makes me want to dance and makes me feel happy. Happy Wednesday 🙂
‘Just feel the music and express yourself’

Spelling
Wordsearch –
This week’s magic spelling task is to find all of the magic spellings in the word search below. How long will it take you to complete the word search? Time yourself and let me know how long it took you.
English
SPAG (15 minutes): Apostrophes for plural posession
As you know apostrophes can be used for contraction words and possession. You can all use them for contraction words and singular possession but today we are going to use them for plural possession. You are going to use apostrophes to show the possession for plural nouns (a group of things).
If a plural noun ends in ‘s’, you only add an apostrophe after the ‘s’.
Eg – the fairies’ castle.
The castle belongs to a group of fairies.
If the plural noun doesn’t end in ‘s’, you need to add an apostrophe and an ‘s’.
Eg – the men’s room.
The room belong to a group of men.
Task – Complete the following two tasks below
Writing (45 minutes): To create a setting description
Today you will be continuing with your setting description. You will describe what you can hear. Use the same picture you used yesterday and remain with that picture for the remainder of the week. Again, I have created a video of what it should look like.
Maths
Maths Meeting: Recapping previous learning (15 minutes)
Maths: Decimals (45 minutes)
Today you are moving onto adding decimals with the same number of decimal places. I know we covered adding decimals last week and you looked at making decimals into a whole yesterday. Therefore, I haven’t done an input video because I don’t feel like you need it. Remember to use the columns correctly and write them out if you need help. When you regroup, make sure you add it on and add it to the correct column.

PE and PSHE
Before you start your Mental Health week challenge, I want you to complete twenty minutes of PE. Staying fit and active is good for our mental wellbeing, our mind and our body. Joe Wicks is videoing some wonderful fitness videos for children. Put all of your effort into this video and it will make you feel much better.
Now, log onto Marvellous Me and look at the Children’s Mental Health week task I have set for today. It is a really nice one and I would love to see all of your wonderful pictures of you ‘expressing yourself’.
I am proud of your efforts.
Well done,
Mr Farrier.
