Reading
Task 1 – 9:15 – 10:15
I want you to start your day by creating a book cover. We are going to focus on the author ‘David Walliams’. I want you to pick your favourite book written by ‘David Walliams’ and create a new front cover for it. If you haven’t got a favourite book written by him, then look up his books on the internet.
- How creative can you get?
- What will the character look like?
- Can you add further detail
Task 2 – 10:15 – 11:00
I want you to listen to this chapter of ‘The World’s Worst Teachers’. I want you to create your own worst teacher character and make him or her so bad that they would make it into the book. I want you to draw the character and then describe their appearance and personality. Think about what they look like, how they act and what happens in their classroom. Make it as funny and as detailed as you possible can, include lots of adjectival phrases, colour in your pictures, similes and upper level vocabulary.
Maths
11:15 – 12:00
You are going to spend the next 45 minute before lunch completing some word problems about books. You will be using a range of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.
Afternoon Session
This afternoon, I want you to put your feet up, relax and enjoy a movie. However I want you to watch the movie with a twist. I want you to watch the movie with the subheadings on. Watch the video below to understand why I want you to watch it with them on.
I hope you have enjoyed your reading day and enjoy your no technology day tomorrow. I am proud of you all!
Thanks,
Mr Farrier.
