Good morning everyone. We are nearly at the end of another week and what a fantastic week it has been. Tomorrow is a fun day and hopefully you will be able to enjoy some valuable time with your family. I hope you have a brilliant day.
This week is Mental Health week. Please check Marvellous Me for today’s wellbeing activity. Our Early Years quiz is available on the link below: https://kahoot.it/challenge/07246221?challenge-id=3fa38bcd-7216-4f9f-b166-48433063d8f3_1612342870954
We have two zoom sessions a day for children who want to attend. The sessions are at 11am and 1.30pm and I will read a story during each session.
- Share stories with your children daily, they are hugely important in their learning.
- Please sing or say rhymes with your child. If you do not know the tune, don’t worry. Your child might know it, or you can make up a tune or you could always say it rather than sing it. See Day 1 for the words to some of our popular rhymes.
- Please find opportunities for counting daily. This might be when playing with toys, having tea, or walking up the stairs.
Pre-nursery
Light and Shadow – Shine a torch or the torch on your phone onto a light background (you could use a white piece of paper or a light coloured wall). The effect is better if the area is fairly dark such as a corner of the room. Let your child move their hand in between the torch and the background to cast shadows.
Rhymes with Chris Nixon – Watch the video below and join in with the rhymes about water.
Nursery
Phonics – Voice Sounds – Explore different mouth movements with your children e.g. blowing, sucking, tongue stretching and wiggling etc. Use a mirror so your child can see what their mouth looks like when they make each different movement.

The effect is better if the area is fairly dark such as a corner of the room. Let your child move their hand in between the torch and the background to cast shadows. Your child could also put objects in between the torch and the background and experiment with moving the objects closer and further away.

Please can you keep in touch with me via email to let me know how your child is getting on. Alternatively you could send me a message below. It would be lovely if you could send a photo or two of your children in their play. My email address is: clister@handale.rac.sch.uk
Take care,
Mrs Lister
