Good morning. I hope everyone has received their email telling them about Marvellous Me. If not, it might be that I don’t have your email address. I will be sending daily messages via Marvellous Me and also rewarding badges to the people who send me work. If you haven’t done so already, please could you send me a picture of your signature as permission to use your child’s photos on the Marvellous Me app.
We have two zoom sessions a day for children who want to attend. The sessions are at 11am and 1.30pm and I will read a story during each session.
- Share stories with your children daily, they are hugely important in their learning.
- Please sing or say rhymes with your child. If you do not know the tune, don’t worry. Your child might know it, or you can make up a tune or you could always say it rather than sing it. See Day 1 for the words to some of our popular rhymes.
- Please find opportunities for counting daily. This might be when playing with toys, having tea, or walking up the stairs.
Pre-nursery
Recording play – Use your phone to film your child in their play. When you have finished recording, play it back to your child and talk about what they were doing.
Wheels on the bus – Watch the clip below and encourage your child to join in with the rhyme.
Nursery
Phonics – Body Percussion. Use instruments if you have them, if not use things that make a sound e.g. pan and spoon, bottle with rice in etc. Play the instrument and ask the children to move in a certain way such as marching, jumping, clapping etc. Play the instrument quickly or slowly and describe the action e.g. slow, slower, fast, faster.
The 3 Little Pigs – encourage your child to retell the story from yesterday. Use your phone to film your child as they retell the story. Once they have finished their retell, replay the recording to your child.
Wheels on the Bus – Watch the clip below and encourage your child to join in with the rhyme. Count the people who get onto the bus throughout the rhyme.
Please can you keep in touch with me via email to let me know how your child is getting on. Alternatively you could send me a message below. It would be lovely if you could send a photo or two of your children in their play. My email address is: clister@handale.rac.sch.uk
Take care,
Mrs Lister
