Hello Reception,

We are at the start of another week. Can you remember what the first day of the week is? This week is the last week before half term, so I want you to work your socks off all week before we have a week of resting. Please remember to send me an email to let me know how you are getting on and I will be able to award you a badge on Marvellous Me.

Please remember I will do 2 drop-in zoom sessions a day, one at 10.30am and one at 2pm. You can ask any questions you wish to or show me some of your work. I will also read a story on an afternoon so feel free to drop in.

This mornings job is to learn another letter name. Remember every letter has a name and a sound and today we are going to look at the letter ‘b’. Watch the video and see if you can join in with the song.

This morning our exercise is the Trolls dance. Have fun.

Phonics Activity

Watch the video and see if you can join in. I would like you to write your own words using the ‘ch’ and ‘qu’ diagraph. I also want you to try and write your own sentence. You could use the same sentence as me if you would like to.

Maths Activity

The Pairs game – Today I would like you to go on a pairs hunt around your house. Can you remember that a pair of something means they are the same. We could have 2 socks which are the same or 2 t-shirts which are the same to make a pair. You could also go on a nature hunt and collect some items and then sort them into pairs (maybe you can find 2 sticks the same or 2 leaves the same). Are they all pairs or do you have some left over?. You could finish off by counting all of the objects

Reading

Image result for colin mcnaughton boo

Have a look at the picture. This is the next book from our new author, Colin McNaughton and it is called “BOO!”. I would like you to talk to your family about the front cover about what you think might happen during this story. You could ask your family to write your prediction down on some paper and after we have read it you could look back and see if some things you suggested did happen in the story.

Other activities:

  • Read a phonics book on oxford owl or you can read your own phonics book if you have one. Remember to keep practicing so you become fluent with reading. Free eBook library | Oxford Owl from Oxford University Press.
  • Think about the number 6 and find 6 objects. Can you find different ways of making the number 6. I am going to make the number 6 by having 3 oranges and 3 apples.
  • Choose 2 stories and ask your family to vote for their favourite story. Can you count how many votes there are for each story.
  • Can you write me a letter to let me know what you are missing about being at school?

Well done Reception, your work for today is complete. You are all superstars.
