English Starter

English
Over the next few days in English, we are going to be completing a whole school writing project.
Usborne books have released an excellent writing competition for you all to enter. We are going to be writing a letter to a child in 2030 explaining to them what it was like to live in 2020. You are not going to write the letter today, we are going to create a plan today and write the letter tomorrow.
I will send out further information about how you can enter the competition when we have finished our writing task.
Today, I would like you to complete the following activity in English. Get your self a piece of paper and put a line down the middle so you have split your page in half. On one side of the paper, write the heading: Wonderful Memories and on the other side of the paper, write the heading: Sad Memories.
I would like you to draw pictures to show me what your best memories of 2020 are and what your saddest memories of 2020 are. Watch the video below and I will share some of mine with you.

Reading
Please visit the Oxford Owl website and choose a book to read. You should all know which colour book band you are on. Please remember to send me pictures of your reading records so I can check that you are reading three times a week. You can send this every Monday.
After you have done this, watch the video below and complete your reading activity for today.
Science
In Science today, we are going to be working on basic needs. Watch the video below and complete the Science activities for today.
First activity
Split your page into four and tell me about the four basic needs: water, food, air and shelter. Remember you can draw pictures and write sentences to say why each one is important.
Second activity
Create a pet fact file. Choose a pet, write a heading and draw a picture. After you have done that tell me as much as you can about your pet. You could have a pet panda, a pet gorilla or any animal of your choice. Remember to talk about what it eats, where it lives, how it needs to be looked after. Make it as colourful as you can and remember your neatest handwriting.
Well done Year 2!
Your work for today is complete. If you have completed everything on the learning page today, you really are a superstar because it has been very busy.
Remember to email me over you work and if you want to leave a comment in the box below, you are more than welcome too.
