Hello Reception,

Today is Friday which means it’s the last day of home learning before we have two days off for the weekend. I can’t believe how quickly this week has passed, I hope you have had a fantastic week. I just want to say a huge thank you for all the hard work you have done this week, it has been lovely to see everything you have been doing.

Please remember I will do 2 drop-in zoom sessions a day, one at 10.30am and one at 2pm. You can ask any questions you wish to or show me some of your work. I will also read a story on an afternoon so feel free to drop in.

This morning your job is to practice reading some words. Please could I ask parents to write the words vet, wet, tip, duck, hiss and luck. Ask the children to read them by sounding out the words. A pride point can be given for each word they get correct.

This morning our exercise is yoga. It has been lovely to hear how much you are all enjoying doing this.

Phonics Activity

Today, we are learning a new phase 3 phoneme. Please watch the video and join in. After watching the video, have a go at forming the ‘z’ letter, writing a word using a phoneme frame and then use your word to either tell someone in your family your sentence or write a sentence.

Maths Activity

Yesterday, we were practicing different ways to put 10 animals into 2 fields. Today, I am going to put a link to a game which you can use to see different ways to put 10 teddies into 2 houses. Have a go and see if you can find many different ways.

If you cannot access the link you could collect 10 small objects from around your house and 2 bowls. See how many ways you can seperate the 10 objects into the 2 bowls. Remember to write down the number of objects in each bowl.

Reading

Watch the video to see the last part of our Hairy Maclary story. I hope you have enjoyed reading our author story.

Other activities:

  • Read a phonics book on oxford owl or you can read your own phonics book if you have one. Remember to keep practicing so you become fluent with reading. Free eBook library | Oxford Owl from Oxford University Press.
  • Sing “ten green bottles sitting on the wall”.
  • Enjoy some time playing with your toys and have a rest. You have all had a very busy week and now it is time to rest. I know you all like to watch how things are made so I have put an episode of come outside if you would like to watch it.

Have a fantastic weekend, you are all amazing!.
