You have nearly completed another week of home learning and I think you are all amazing! The work I have received this week is excellent and I am really REALLY proud of you. I wonder who can get 16 out of 16? I would like you to aim to get at least 8 of your spellings right.
English Starter Activity
The other day you worked on co-ordinating conjunctions: but, so, or, and. Today you are going to look at subordinating conjunctions. A subordinating conjunctions goes in a complex sentence and it can either go at the start of the sentence or in the middle. Watch the video below to learn more about subordinate conjunctions.
After you have watched the video, complete the sentences below.
I ran to the shop because ______________________________________________. When I get home, I ____________________________________________________. The sun shines if ______________________________________________________. John went to bed after _________________________________________________. |
English
So far this week you have written the beginning section and the build up. What section comes next? It is the problem and that is what you are going to be writing today. We are going to do it a little bit differently today. Look at my problem below. How boring does it sound? You are going to re write my problem but make it even better. You are going to show off all the skills which you know and create an amazing paragraph of writing. Because you have learnt about subordinate conjunctions today to begin our English lesson, I want you to see if you can include 3 of them in your writing. Every time you use one, underline it.
Remember, you are only writing the problem today. Read my problem below and improve – make it fantastic!
An angry dwarf stormed through the door. He looked mad. He shouted at everyone. Snow White felt very sad. Angry got even more angry. There was no stew left. Snow White gave him some cake. He shouted. He didn’t like cake. He stormed out of the house. He slammed the door. Snow White was very worried. The dwarves told her that he always gets mad with them. Hairy said he gets mad when he leaves hair in the bath.
If you need to listen to the story again, please watch it again below.

Today, we are going to be working on odd and even numbers. Watch the video below to further your understanding.
Look at the hundred square below. Write down 10 odd numbers and 10 even numbers.
Maths Investigation
When you add two odd numbers together, is the answer always even? Show me some examples and tell me why.
When you add two even numbers together, is the answer always even? Show me some examples and tell me why.
So how do we create an answer that is an odd number? Tip – try adding an even number and an odd number.
PSHE
In PSHE today, you are going to think about how you can make sure you are kind to yourself. We spend lots of time thinking about how we should be kind and care for other people but we don’t spend enough time caring for ourselves.
Have a look at the love heart examples below and then I want you to create your own love hearts and messages to explain how you can be kind to yourself.
After you have done this, I want you to go and say something kind to everyone in your house. You could say:
Thank you dad for making me laugh.
I like your hair today, it looks very pretty.
Mum, you are the best, thank you for stepping in as Mrs Farrier and helping to teach me.
Golden Time
Today in Golden Time, you can choose whatever you would like to do. You have worked incredibly hard this week and you deserve it. Make sure you let me know what you get up to.
Well done Year 2!
Please remember to email me your work and let me know how you have got on. Children, if you want to type your own message on the form below, you are more than welcome too.
Enjoy your weekend everyone. Make sure you spend some quality time with your family.
Well done my Year 2 superstars!
