English
We are now going to be using the story mountain we created yesterday to write a story. We are going to be retelling the story of Snow White and the Very Angry Dwarf. Each day, we are going to focus on a different part of the story. Which section do you think we will write first? We always start with the beginning section. Remember when we write the beginning we have to write about two things:
- introduce the characters
- describe the setting
Have a look back at your story mountain you created.
Now, you are going to watch the video below. I have completed the beginning section for you to have a look at before you write your own. Remember we are only writing the beginning paragraph.
Here is a success criteria for you to use. Can you try and challenge yourself and use all of the skills below?

Reading
For your reading activity today, you are going to be answering more questions about the book
‘Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy’
Read the text below and the answer the questions.
There were miserable dogs, cantankerous cats, a rabbit with pimples and rickety rats.
Mice with the sneezes, a goat in a rage, and Cassie the cockatoo locked in her cage.
Cassie had claws and a troublesome beak. She saw something twitch so she gave it a TWEAK.
She pulled it so hard that she plucked out a hair and Hairy Maclary jumped high in the air.
- 1. Clarify the word cantankerous.
- 2. What adjective is used to describe the dogs?
- 3. Find the alliteration in the first sentence.
- 4. What was wrong with the mice?
- 5. Where was Cassie the cockatoo?
- 6. Why does he have a troublesome beak?
- 7. What happened when she pulled it so hard?
- 8. Where did Hary Maclary jump?
