Welcome to
Handale Primary School
Dear Parents, Carers, and Visitors,
As the Headteacher of Handale Primary School, I am proud to lead a school where children are truly at the heart of everything we do. I believe I have the most privileged job in the world, working alongside a dedicated team committed to nurturing every child, helping them grow, learn and thrive.
At Handale, we focus on providing a safe and nourishing environment where children feel accepted, included and confident to take on new challenges. With this foundation in place, we know we can instil a lifelong love of learning. Our children are kind and compassionate and they take the lead in celebrating our school while valuing and nurturing our differences. We believe that high-quality, authentic relationships with all stakeholders - children, families, staff, and the wider community - is key to our success. We are a forward-thinking school with staff who strive to bring out the best in every child. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive environment where every child feels valued and cared for.
Handale Primary School is a warm and caring community, housed in a modern, spacious building with excellent facilities, including touchscreens in every learning area and a beautiful library space. You really need to see the building to appreciate all that we can offer. As part of the Lingfield Trust, we benefit from a network of schools committed to delivering excellence in education. This partnership allows us to share expertise, resources and best practices, ensuring that we can provide the very best opportunities for your child. We are committed to developing lifelong learners who value and exhibit qualities such as resilience, bravery and ambition. We believe in creating a culture where difficulty is not only normal but beneficial where mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities. Our classrooms are safe spaces where children are encouraged to try new things, take risks and grow through experience. We hold high expectations for every child, believing that each one has the potential to succeed and achieve excellence. Through our commitment to quality first teaching, we provide engaging, stimulating lessons tailored to meet the needs of each child. We are committed to fair and equal access to the curriculum for all children, regardless of their starting points or additional needs. We are highly aspirational and will do whatever it takes to help children overcome barriers to learning even if it means thinking outside the box.
Our school culture is deeply rooted in a love of books and reading. We believe that books unlock new worlds and ideas and we are passionate about fostering a love of literature across the school. Our libraries are filled with a wide range of books, and we regularly engage children in activities that expand their vocabulary and understanding.
We operate based on our core values: respect, teamwork, fairness, ambition and resilience. These values alongside our 'Golden Rules' guide everything we do and help children grow into kind, responsible individuals who are ready to make a positive impact on the world. We strongly believe our school offers more than a ‘set of results’ - we aim to develop children into good citizens who will go on to achieve great things.
Being responsive to the community we serve is vitally important to us. We work together to make Handale Primary School a happy and successful learning environment for all children who attend.
“The mediocre teacher tells.
The good teacher explains.
The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires.”
– William Arthur Ward
